RemediationLarge Site Remediation ProgramStrum was retained to assess the spread of oil and metals from past processes at a large three storey commercial site in New Brunswick. Assessment revealed past buried tanks, several processes having used hydrocarbon and metals and indications of oil tanks abandoned in place. Detailed assessment was followed by vapour extraction to control vapours in the building while excavation was undertaken on permeable channels in the basement. Detailed delineation was completed, oil was removed, and boudary samples were collected during the process. The use of risk assessment under RBCA protocol was implemented to attain closure at the site.
