Environmental Risk Assessment

Risk Management Plan, Contaminated Sites.

Strum has been retained by several insurers to develop an environmental risk management approach to oil spills at a wide variety of sites. The objective of this plan has been to allow characterization of risk factors, prioritize which sites represent inherently greater risk and to develop a risk reduction strategy for dealing with that risk. The plan has been developed to ensure that immediate risk planning is completed at all sites, regardless of site conditions. Reduction of risk is key, and is accomplished through a series of developed risk abatement protocols. An outcome of the risk assessment is the ability of the team to quickly size up the potential hazard based on spill details and sensitive receptors. This protocol ensures that all sites and events are handled consistently and that evaluation of spill reports and responses are dealt with on a level basis, allowing head office components to respond proactively establishing budget ceilings, follow up procedures and urgent response protocols.
