Project ManagementHurricane Damage Inventory DevelopmentFollowing a severe tropical storm with hurricane force winds, significant damage was sustained in Halifax and the surrounding area following Hurricane Juan. After damage from the storm was assessed, it was determined that compensation would be requested from Federal sources. Strum was retained to assemble the claims-based information from the storm in a database, which would allow a claim to be forwarded to federal officials. Strum pioneered assembly of the data in a useable format that allowed compilation of damage details from all claims to be forwarded. This included assimilation of damage reports on a site basis, expert reports on remedial requirements, repair summaries, costs estimates and back up and consultant's reports on completed repairs. The organizational structure of the databse and assembly of cost data allowed Federal authorities to successfully audit and release funds needed to pay for storm damage costs in short order following submission to Ottawa. >>>Return to Project Management<<<
