Hazardous Materials AssessmentLead Assessment, DND Base, Nova ScotiaStrum was retrained to investigate lead impacts in gravels in roofing materials and site drains at a DND military installation. Impacts were suspected to have arisen from paint stripping operations of lead containing paints. Investigations indicated high lead levels from past paint and other processes at the base. Expansion of the program indicated that lead was present in soils, dust throughout structures and drains across the site. This project involved development of detailed sampling regimens required to determine the origins of the contaminants uncovered. This project also involved sampling of large quantities of waste materials and required investigation into and coordination of waste disposal permits, transport licensing, manifesting and development of disposal procedures to meet compliance requirements of provincial and municipal disposal site authorities on behalf of the client. >>>Return to Hazardous Materials Assessment<<<
